Projekt 365
One photo everyday for a year.
About
My name is Matt Donders and I consider myself an amatuer photographer. I used to carry a point&shoot camera with me everywhere and just took pictures of anything. I never recorded them on any website and they would just sit on my hard drive on my computer. In March 2008 I decided that I wanted to become more serious about this artistic hobby and bought myself a dSLR (digital single-lens reflex), the Canon Digital Rebel XTi (400D).
I started off very timid and was afraid of taking pictures when I had my camera, because it was so big and noticeable. I soon got over that fear and started taking pictures and started to carry my camera around wherver I went. In the 5 months that I have owned my camera, I have taken over 2,000 pictures and I learn something new after each one of them. I started putting my photos on Flickr and listening to podcasts and reading e-books on Photography, Lightroom and Photoshop. These inspired me to do bigger and better things and I am proud to say that I am able to.
Even though I use my camera a lot, I still feel that it is not as much as I truly want to and that is where the idea for this site came along. After seeing many photo-a-day projects being done, I decided that this was something I wanted to do. It would force me to take a picture everyday and would allow me to learn something new after each press of the shutter button. You may ask why start on August 20th – that’s a weird date. Well my plan was to start on August 20th, 2008 (my 20th birthday) so that my 365th picture would occur on my 21st birthday. I figured it would be a nice picture to end off the first year of the project and also to start the next year as well. Please feel free to travel through the archives as the site begins to grow and feel free to leave feedback on photos that you like. This project will also be conducted on my Flickr page with the same photos, but just for them to be in another place, just in case.
If you are interested in purchasing any photos please feel free to use the Contact Form at the top of the page and I will be more than happy to return your email as quickly as possible. I hope you enjoy the photos on my site and thanks for visiting!
